The Harvard Healthy Eating Pyramid was developed by the faculty in the Department of Nutriton at the Harvard School of Public Health.   The pyramid is based on the latest science and is a trustworthy guide to choosing a healthy diet.  It's foundation is daily exercise and weight control.

Vegetarian Diet

A vegetarian diet focuses on plants for food.  This includes fruits, vegetables, grains, dried beans and peas, seeds and nuts.  Although all vegetarian diets are not the same, most are low or devoid of animal products.  They are also usually lower than nonvegetarian diets in total fat, saturated fat and cholesterol.  Vegetarian diets can be healthy and nutritionally sound if they are carefully planned to include essential nutrients.

Diet Pyramid

A Mediterranean Diet incorporates the basics of healthy eating while characterizing the traditional cooking style of countries bordering the Mediterranean Sea.  The diet focuses on getting good healthy fats, fruits, vegetables, whole grains and fish.   It is also thought to reduce your risk of heart disease by limiting unhealthy fats.
